Week 9 Wonder Task: Activity 1: Mr Browne's Precepts

In the novel Wonder, we know that Mr Browne, one of August's teachers, loves writing precepts on the board.

A precept is an idea or rule that makes us think deeply.

Below is a list of precepts:

    I like this precept because it tells you that if you never change you can never win. Fortune Favours those who work for it, Fortune favours the ones that change for it, Fortune favours those who adapt to survive.

  14. “It’s not enough to be friendly. You have to be a friend.” —Charlotte. I think it means to not just say hello but to include them in what ever your doing and welcome them as a friend. I like this because it is very very true and i can relate to it.

To me this quote means that when you say something to someone you need to stop and think if what you're about to say would hurt the others persons feelings.

Now that I look back, I don't know why I was so stressed about it all this time.Funny how you look back on something and it turns out to be nothing.The reason that this one stood out to me is because I always worry about little things that really are nothing.I think that it means don't stress out about everything because later on it won't even matter.

I like this quote because its true little kids don't mean what they say because they don't know what they are saying.     I picked this quote because I know some people want to be popular but they have to do silly things to fit in. And I just like the sound of this quote.

    I think that this quote means trying to be cool just to fit in doesn't really make you that cool.

    I like this quote because it is inspiring and it teaches you a life long lesson.
    I think this quote means that you should not judge people on what they look like you should judge them on what they look like.

    I like this quote because it tells me that even though there are very few people like me I can still be friends with people who are not entirely the same as me.

    I think that it means you do not only have to be friends people who are the same as you but you are allowed to be friends with anyone that respects you even though they don't have the same interests.

    I like this because it is true.
    I think it means when little kids say stuff they don't understand it will hurt someones feelings but when big kids say stuff most of the time they know what there saying and understand that it is mean.
